What are you willing to do for your children?
The book The Age of Migrants: On the Ruins of the USSR is a collection of true stories of Moldovan women and men who, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, were forced to leave their homeland, seek employment, survive and start from scratch in foreign countries.
They, former happy citizens of the great era of the Soviet Union, became unnecessary, superfluous and tired.
But Europe saved them, despite their illegal status, European citizens treated them warmly, and they worked honestly in return.
They are honorable people of their era.
These are not statistics or politics - these are the living voices of those who have experienced deprivation, separation from their children, fear, poverty and betrayal, but who have not lost their humanity. Who went through nightmares of being deported, endless waiting - for the simple happiness of a family and the hope for a better future.
They didn't know where fate would take them, but they knew why they were leaving, they didn't know how long they were leaving for, but they knew they would come back.
